Dylan Redwine memorial service to be held today

A memorial service for Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old boy who disappeared nearly a year ago, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Pine Valley Foursquare Church in Bayfield.

Dylan’s family is hosting the event, which will include a memorial dedication and blessing at the Pine River Cemetery, then a reception and lunch at noon at the church.

Dylan’s story caught the attention of the community and the nation after he went missing Nov. 19, 2012, during a court-ordered visit with his father, Mark Redwine, who lives north of Vallecito Reservoir.

The boy’s remains were discovered by authorities in late June during a five-day search along Middle Mountain Road north of Vallecito.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Hope for Dylan Redwine Organization at www.finddylan.com, or at the nearest Wells Fargo bank.

For those who are unable to attend Dylan’s service, the Herald will provide coverage online and in Sunday’s paper.
