It was cold for Bayfield's community Easter egg hunt on March 26. Parents and kiddos were bundled up as they awaited the "go" signal to charge onto the snow-covered grass in the Joe Stephenson Park baseball outfields. Parents accompanied their kids under age 6 and showed them what they were supposed to be doing. The older kids worked the other ball field. By the time the colored plastic eggs were gathered, the snow was pretty much gone. Some of the eggs had coupons for prizes, along with lots of candy eggs.
The event was hosted by the Bayfield Parks and Recreation Department. It was preceded by a 5K Easter Egg Scramble run and a 1K family fun run/ walk. The men's overall 5K winner was Lee Rosenthal in 20:26. The women's overall winner was Lindsey Le May in 25:50.
Age group winners were in men's: Caleb Donelan age 0-12; Skylar Canode Rhodes in age 13-18; Lee Rosenthal in age 19-34; and Albert DeMarco in age 35-plus.
Women's age group winners were: Lindsey Le May age in 0-12; Rachel Kirk in age 13-18; Andrija Blount in age 19-34; and Bethany Bernal in age 35-plus.
Some of the the other park activities, such as a bouncey house, were cancelled because of the cold wet weather, Parks & Rec Director Scott Key told the Times.
