Early run plenty for a No. 1

Ignacio beats Ridgway to win 7th road game of the year

Games aren’t over after the first quarter, but an 18-point deficit is a large mountain to climb in high school basketball.

The Ignacio High School boys basketball team opened its game against Ridgway with a 22-4 run Saturday, and the Bobcats didn’t look back in a 55-31 San Juan Basin League victory.

IHS (11-0, 2-0 SJBL) only outscored the Demons 33-27 over the rest of the game, but the damage already was done.

The Bobcats, ranked No. 1 in chsaanow.com’s Class 2A poll, won for the 11th consecutive game and seventh road game in a row.

IHS will return home for only the third time this season when it will host Dolores at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
