Chimney Rock announces programs

Chimney Rock National Monument, 17 miles west of Pagosa Springs on U.S. Highway 160 and three miles south on Highway 151, will host these programs:

A free, family-friendly “Vision of Chimney Rock” program Sunday. The topic will be “What’s For Dinner at Chimney Rock.” Dottie George, a volunteer, will discuss what the ancient Puebloans ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner and how they prepared their food. Reservations are required.

A full moon program will be held at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 19. Visitors will learn about the ancestral Puebloans, the archaeological relationship of Chimney Rock to Chaco Canyon, and archaeo-astronomy theories. Tickets are $15. To make a reservation, visit www.chimneyrockco.org or call (877) 444-6777.
