Durango Nature Studies announces programs

Durango Nature Studies will host these programs:

Geology of the Colorado Plateau Workshop will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Durango Nature Center. The cost is $10 for nonmembers, and free for members.

Durango Nature Studies is partnering with the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad on its annual Peanuts Pumpkin Patch trips Saturday and Sunday to provide nature activities and education around fall themes.

A full-moon hike under the Hunter’s Moon will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Animas Overlook on Junction Creek Road. The hike is free for members and $10 for nonmembers.

The Nature Center is open to the public Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 26. The center is free for members and children 12 and younger, and $5 for nonmembers.

Solar power for homes to be discussed at museum

Solarize La Plata will discuss at 5:30 p.m. how solar power can work for county residents. Tuesday at Durango Discovery Museum, 1333 Camino del Rio.

Solarize La Plata has developed a limited-time program that makes it easy and economical to acquire the right photovoltaic system for a home, with financing if desired.
