Colorado author to visit Durango
These events will feature Craig Childs, Colorado author:
Childs will present the keynote address at the annual La Plata Democrats Jefferson Jackson Dinner and Auction at 5:30 p.m. April 11 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave. Childs’ will give a talk called “The Source of All Waters: A River Journey to Tibet and Back.” Tickets are available at www.laplatadems.org.
Childs will read from and sign his latest book, Apocalyptic Planet, from 2 to 3 p.m. April 11 at the Rochester Hotel, 726 East Second Ave. He also will answer questions. Donations are welcome.

FLC to live-stream beetle presentation
Fort Lewis College will live-stream a San Juan National Forest presentation about the spruce beetle epidemic and its impact on Colorado forests.
The presentation is set to start at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Vallecito Room in the Student Union. There is no cost.

A Colorado State Forest Service report last year cited the spruce beetle as the state’s most widespread insect threat. By 2014, an estimated 485,000 acres had been affected.
Anglers’ roundtable set for March 19
Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to hear from anglers about fishing in the Four Corners at an “Anglers’ Roundtable” from 5 to 7 p.m. March 19 at the Dolores Public Lands Center on Colorado Highway 184 south of Dolores.
Jim White, an aquatic biologist, will talk about the status of the various waters and the future outlook for them. Anglers will be asked to talk about their recent experiences fishing in the area.
CPW also is in the process of a five-year review of its fishing regulations. Anglers can make suggestions to be included in the review and regulations.
