Renewable credits available from LPEA
Members of La Plata Electric Association who install renewable energy systems (up to 10 kilowatts) in 2014 can receive renewable energy credits of $350 per kilowatt.
Renewable generation systems include solar photovoltaic, wind and hydropower.
To qualify, systems also must be net metered, inspected and approved by LPEA.
Residential or commercial grid-tied installations within the LPEA service area are eligible for the energy-credit payments.
The LPEA contract for purchasing this renewable energy spans 10 years, but right now, members receive a full, one-time payment up front.
The policy is available at www.lpea.coop. For more information, call 247-5786.

There also will be a Firewise presentation and a panel discussion with local experts.
The registration fee is $50, which is due by Feb. 3. The fee includes refreshments for three breaks, lunch both days and educational materials. Continuing education credits may be available.
