Geotourism Fest set for Saturday in Aztec

The Four Corners National Geographic Geotourism Festival will return to Aztec Ruins National Monument to celebrate the area’s natural diversity of history, culture, recreation and lifestyle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The event will include vendors who will offer educational information, crafts, demonstrations and retail items, as well as food and beverages.

Highlights also include Native American dance and musical performances. Fees will be charged for entrance to Aztec Ruins – $5 for adults and free for those 15 and younger.

Mancos State Park announces events

Mancos State Park, north of Mancos just off County Road 42, will host these events:

Kids will be taught fishing basics, and adults will learn about fly casting from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The park naturalist will teach about wildlife in a game suited for all ages from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

A bird walk will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Sunday. Participants should bring binoculars.

A nature walk through the park focusing on wildflowers, insects, plants and wildlife will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants should bring binoculars.
