Pediatric office wins green business award
Pediatric Associates of Durango is the recipient of the 2015 Green Business Leadership Award.
The selection committee chose the medical practice for making significant changes in the health care field, which, as an industry, is one of the largest polluters in hazardous materials, such as mercury.
Under the leadership of Dr. Pakhi Chaudhuri, Pediatric Associates created its Green Policy, which includes initiatives in three areas: conservation, waste reduction and non-toxic products and procedures.
Chaudhuri has also instituted a worksite wellness program, single-stream recycling for the whole building at 1199 Main Ave. and advocated for significant energy efficiency upgrades at the building.
The other finalists were Mantell-Hecathorn Builders and Maria’s Bookshop.
