Durango Nature Studies, in coordination with several local sponsors, will hold the eighth annual Earth Day Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in Rotary Park.
The festival will feature a kayak race sponsored by Four Corners River Sports at 10:30 a.m., and a 5-K footrace and 1-mile family fun run at 11 a.m.
Race costs are $20 advanced registration and $25 the day of the race for the 5-K footrace and kayak race, and $15 per family for the 1-mile fun run. Footraces will start and end at Rotary Park.
The festival will also include race swag for participants, a race raffle for prizes, booths for earth-friendly local organizations and businesses, arts and crafts, face painting, a bouncy house, an art display by kids from Durango Nature Studies nature club, a natural-material-only boat-building activity and boat race for kids, live music by the Pete Giuliani Band, free pizza, and beer from Animas Brewing Co.
