The Herald should be ashamed of the inflammatory
When the Western Leaders Network sent a letter to senators in February asking that they not use the Congressional Review Act to repeal the BLM Methane Rules (as had already passed the House, thanks in part to Scott Tipton’s vote), some La Plata County and Durango city leaders signed on – as did many similar positions from other states. It was an attempt to prevent the reckless deregulation of the fossil fuel extraction that furthers the already-severe damage to public health and to the environment that sustains us.
The oil and gas industry is attacking elected officials on all levels. They even attacked LPEA board members for taking a stand for the BLM Methane Rule back in February.
When opposition is voiced by “We the People” or the leaders who genuinely care about us, oil and gas supporters cry “foul.”
Attempts by Gwen and others at rational, transparent, fact-based dialogue gets derailed by the likes of your Nov. 18 editorial! Shame on you!
