Silver Swanson receives Nightingale Scholarship

The Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center announces Silver Swanson as the recipient of the 2013 Southwestern Colorado Nightingale Nursing Scholarship.

Swanson is from the Bayfield area and a nursing student at Southwest Colorado Community College in Durango. Kate O’Brien, Department of Nursing and interim branch campus coordinator at the college, presented the $850 award to Swanson.

The scholarship is made possible through contributions from regional businesses and organization sponsors: Southwest Memorial Hospital and Nurse Managers in Cortez; Mercy Regional Medical Center and Southwest Women’s Health Associates in Durango; and Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation in Pagosa Springs.

The center is a nonprofit organization in Southwest Colorado that focuses on improving access to quality health care in Archuleta, Dolores, Hinsdale, La Plata, Montezuma, Ouray, San Juan and San Miguel counties.
