Brooke Milliet named to all-academic team
Brooke Milliet of Durango was named to the 2015 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women’s soccer all-academic team.
Milliet, an exercise science major at Fort Lewis College, earned honor roll accolades. To qualify for First Team All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.
All players who were not voted to the First Team All-Academic were automatically qualified for the All-Academic Honor Roll.
Durangoan Erin Ganley named to dean’s list
Durango resident and Azusa Pacific University student Erin Ganley was named to the academic dean’s list at the university.
Ganley is honored for a spring semester 2015 academic standing of a 3.5 or better grade-point average.
Boys & Girls Club board receives honor
The board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County has received the Silver Level Award in the National Boys & Girls Clubs of America League’s EAGLES Award program.
This award recognizes boards nationwide that have achieved a variety of milestones, including meeting attendance, serving on committees, fundraising and working on strategic initiatives.
Board members received this award in Albuquerque at the Boys & Girls Club Southwest Leadership Conference. The volunteer board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County is composed of 14 individuals from different walks of life.

FLC student presents research on forest fires
Fort Lewis College biology major Michael Fringuello of Durango presented his senior research project at the Conference of Science and Management on the Colorado Plateau and Southwest Region.
Fringuello’s presentation was called “The Effects of Prescribed Fire and Thinning Restoration Treatments on Forest Floor Fuel Loading in Warm/Dry Mixed Conifer Forests in Southwestern Colorado, USA.” Biology professor Julie Korb is his adviser.
