Zeta Hay of Durango was named to the second semester honors dean’s list at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

Students who attain honors have at least the equivalent of 12 credit hours and achieved a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.79 on a scale of 4.0.

Hay is a freshman majoring in musical theater. She graduated from Durango High School and is the daughter of Cynthia Hay.

Durango School District 9-R is accepting bids for bakery products for the 2016-17 school year. Bids are due by 2 p.m. July 18 and should be turned in to Food Services at 201 E. 12th St.

Camp Invention, a summer enrichment day camp supported by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, is being held this week at Riverview Elementary School.

Designed for students entering elementary school, Camp Invention is a weeklong program that uses hands-on problem-solving in STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

This year, the camp’s curriculum is called Epic, which features hands-on modules such as CrickoBot, where campers construct and personalize a solar-powered cricket and a unique habitat; Epic Park, where campers work in teams to design an eco-adventure park; I Can Invent: Maker Studio, where campers brainstorm product ideas and build original prototypes using real tools and components found in everyday devices; and The Lab: Where Pigs Fly, where children can discover the science of slime, demolition, electronic sound, giant squid and coding.

Camp Invention serves more than 94,000 students each year through nearly 1,400 camps across the nation.
