Danny Jaques earns doctorate

Danny R. Jaques of Ignacio recently graduated from Fielding Graduate University with a doctorate in Educational Leadership for Change.

Jaques has spent 30 years as a STEM educator with the Ignacio School District and the Pine River Community Learning Center in Ignacio. Jaques is locally known for his love for space and recruiting area students to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. He is continuing his educational career as an instructional resource specialist with Mesa Alta Junior High School in Bloomfield, New Mexico.

FLC professor receives award

Dawn Mulhern, associate professor and chairperson of the Fort Lewis College Anthropology Department, is the winner of the 2015-16 FLC Featured Scholar Award. The award goes to an FLC professor whose research and scholarship has significantly benefited both his or her students and society.

Mulhern’s research specialties are osteology (the study of bones) and histology (studying the microstructure of bones).

Columbine students receive recognition

These Columbine Christian School students received “Shout Outs” for September for exemplifying great Christian character and values: Molly Hays (pre-kindergarten), Abigail Pittman (kindergarten), Cedar Turner (first grade), Jesse Powers (third grade), Zach Heide (seventh grade) and Julian Tillotson (eighth grade).
