Animas High School to hold parent orientation

Animas High School will host a parent orientation for all families from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Enrollment for ninth through 11th grade is open through Sept. 30.

Parent, teacher group to meet at Riverview

Riverview Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization will hold its first meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the media center.

Durango High School seeks donations to Demon Cares

The Durango High School counseling department is seeking donations to its Demon Cares Closet, which serves students in need by providing school supplies, clothing and personal care items.

Community members may donate new or lightly used clothing, including professional attire for job interviews, formal attire for prom, new school supplies and new toiletries.

Donations should be brought to the DHS counseling department.

New DHS principal invites parents to have coffee

Jonathan Hoerl, the new principal at Durango High School, invites parents to attend Coffee with the Principal at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

All DHS parents are welcome to attend.

Fort Lewis Mesa offers running, soccer programs

Girls on the Run will be held from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays until Nov. 10 at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary.

The first day of coed pick-up soccer for fourth and fifth grade will be held from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A $10 donation is encouraged to help pay for team equipment. Gym shoes (not cleats) are required because practices will be held in the gym.

Seed Studio invites kids to ‘Falling into Art’ class

Seed Studio will celebrate autumn’s arrival with its “Falling into Art” workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the Smiley Building, Room 114, 1309 East Third Ave.

The day will include yoga/meditation, exploratory outside play and creating a piece of art to take home.

The class is limited to 10 students for a more intimate learning experience. The fee is $80, and the workshop is intended for children ages 6 to 12.

College planning meeting set for DHS on Wednesday

Durango High School will host a senior college planning meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the library.

All senior students and their parents are encouraged to attend.

Topics will include an overview of the college application process, how to navigate the common application and changes to the Federal Application for Student Aid.
