Arts center offers figure drawing for adults

The Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., offers “Figure Drawing” for adults 18 and older from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday in the upstairs art education studio.

The cost is $15 for nonmembers and $10 for members. The center provides easels, but participants need to bring personal art supplies.

GED graduation ceremony to take place

The Durango Adult Education Center announces the GED summer graduation ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 1 and 2 of the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

The commencement speaker will be Michael Rendon, Southwest Conservation Corp environmental steward director. This will be the last graduation ceremony for the center this year. Graduates, their family, friends and the public are invited.

DMR to offer adventure camp for children

Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort will offer Purgatory Adventure Camp for Kids, a day camp for children ages 5 to 12.

The camp will offer new activities with these themes throughout the summer:

Know your Mountain! Exploring Maps, Compasses & Geocaching will take place the week of June 3.

Nature is our Home! How We Can All Live Here will take place the week of June 10.

Let’s be “Knotty!” Fun ways to learn how to make and use knots will take place the week of June 17.

Pioneer Week: Build Your Skills & Your Team will take place the week of June 24.

United We Stand! Team Building and Good Ole Summer Fun! will take place the week of July 1. Camp will not take place July 4.

The Hills are Alive! music and more will take place the week of July 8.

Flower Power! Discover the Flora at Purgatory will take place the week of July 15.

It’s a Bug’s Life. Insects, spiders & bugs, oh my! will take place the week of July 22.

Green Science: A Focus on Recycling will take place the week of July 29.

“P” is for Purgatory, Pottery and Pictures! will take place the week of Aug. 5.

Reflection. Team and Personal Growth Activities will take place the week of Aug. 12.
