Local named FLC admission ambassador

Briana Pearse, of Durango, is an admission ambassador for Fort Lewis College for the 2015-16 academic year.

Pearse’s current major is biology with a music minor.

Admission ambassadors play a key role in the Office of Admission’s recruitment efforts by professionally and authentically representing FLC to prospective students, their parents and family, the high school and community college guidance community, as well as visitors to the Durango area.

Ambassadors are chosen through an application and interview process and are selected based on their campus involvement, academic success (3.0 GPA or higher), enthusiasm for FLC and outgoing personality.

DHS students named Commended Students

Principal Leanne Garcia of Durango High School announces that Scott Morse and Nick Wilbur have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these seniors. Although they will not continue in the 2016 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
