Escalante students shine in Denver competition

The Escalante Band was awarded fourth place and a good rating when they performed for Music in the Mountains in Denver on May 13.

Some of the highlights from the competition:

Tyllor Ledford of FFA awarded scholarship

The National FFA Organization and Foundation has awarded more than $2.6 million in scholarships to 1,791 recipients.

This was made possible thanks to the generosity of 116 sponsors. Tyllor’s scholarship was sponsored by Built Ford Tough/Durango Motor Company.

The scholarships were available to students pursuing two-year or four-year degrees or vocational programs.

Haley A. Stencel named to law school’s dean’s list

Haley A. Stencel of Durango was named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.

To qualify for the law school dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while taking at least 10 credit hours of coursework.
