DHS students receive honors
These Durango High School Girls Cross Country, Student Council, Volleyball, Boys Soccer and Boys Cross Country teams and CHSAA activity groups were submitted for nomination to the CHSAA/Les Schwab Academic Team Championship Award for the team having a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above: Girls Cross Country, 3.76; Student Council, 3.71; Volleyball, 3.71; Boys Soccer, 3.67; and Boys Cross Country, 3.61.
The DHS Student Council has been named the 4A CHSAA Academic State Champions. Student Council received this honor by having the highest cumulative GPA for all 4A Student Council groups in Colorado.
These 11th and 12th grade 2014-15 Fall DHS Athletes/CHSAA activity participants received CHSAA Academic First Team and Honorable Mention honors:
First Team Criteria (3.60 GPA and above):
Boys Cross Country: Gordon Gianniny, Benjamin Lachelt, Seamus Millett, Liam O’Brien, Nicholas Turco and River Weiss.
Girls Cross Country: Shannon Maloney, Alma McKown and Marley Weaver-Gabel.
Cheerleading: Madison Hoven, Savanna Johnson and Abby Romero.
Dance: Claire Fenton and Jessica Salka.
Football: Bryan Dunlop, Matthew Lavengood and Collin Thorburn.
Boys Soccer: Nathan Curmano, Logan Graham, Nicholas Jernigan, Dylan McClain, Christopher Petty, Evan Schertz, Larson Schwaebe, Mason Stetler, Austin Urban, Jared Webster and Anthony Williams.
Softball: Danica Dudley, Paige Mazur and Alexys Vidunas.
Student Council: Chloe Ciotti, Nathan Curmano, Rachel Ensign, Claire Fenton, Logan Graham, Kit Hackett, Madison Hoven, Laura Lieb, Madeline Robertson, Mason Stetler, Austin Urban and Amelia Wigton.

Student athletes with 3.60 GPA or more earned First Team honors, while participants with a 3.30-3.59 GPA were named to the Honorable Mention Team.
In order to qualify for First Team or Honorable Mention, students must be a letter winner or equivalent in their activity.
