Lindsey Jankowski named to dean’s list

Lindsey Jankowski, a 2011 Durango High School graduate, has made the dean’s list at Colorado State University for the seventh time.

Jankowski will complete her degree in health and exercise science in May 2015 with honors. She is the daughter of Sue Weber and Paul Jankowski of Durango.

Local students display at art exhibit

These Fort Lewis College senior level Art & Design majors displayed their work in “CTRL + Create,” an exhibition designed, curated, and installed by the students:

Molly Arms of Durango displayed Untitled, oil; and Untitled, ceramics.

Will Morrison of Durango displayed Go Green, digital media; Callaway Golf Ad Campaign, digital media; and Mystic Monk Espresso Coffee, digital media.

Amy Tanner of Durango displayed Out of this World, wax; and Weezer, yarn.

Alysa Zion of Durango displayed Strength, photography; Blue, photography.

The display was in the Main Gallery of the Art Building from Dec. 3 to 19. The works on display showed advanced projects in media ranging from graphic design to fine art and textiles.

Stephanie Ogier named to dean’s list

Stephanie Ogier of Durango has been named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester.

The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.

Ogier is the daughter of John and Kathryn Ogier. St. Olaf College is located in Northfield, Minnesota.

Taylor graduates from university

Lorraine Lobascio Taylor of Bayfield graduated Dec. 18 from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.

Taylor graduated with a Doctorate in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management.

Former Columbine students excel

Former Columbine Christian students have excelled in science at Animas High School.

In their recent chemistry exhibition Jan. 13 at the Durango Powerhouse Science Center, students “received funding” as others voted on the most-outstanding presentations.

In the entrepreneur category, Lacey Andersen received the most funding for her idea of integrating Kevlar fibers into mountain bike tires. In the author category.

Cathy Dellinger received the most funding for her investigative journalism about whether ozone therapy is a safe and efficacious treatment for cancer.
