Philanthropic Education Organization Colorado State Chapter recently awarded its Dorothy Gore Scholarship to Bayfield High School student BriAnne Marr and Ignacio High School student Ada Wilmer.
Marr and Wilmer each received $1,000 in scholarship funding for outstanding academic achievement, leadership ability and potential, motivation to create positive change and dedication to the community. In college, Marr plans to study early-childhood special education and Wilmer plans to study biochemistry.

The Southwest Colorado Bar Association is pleased to announce that it has awarded three scholarships to recent graduates Gabriana Creason of Ignacio High School, Cody Nightingale of Durango High School and Victoria Reeve of Animas High School. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic success and community involvement, as well as financial need.
Lona Nopah, of Bayfield attended and presented at the 12th annual Undergraduate Sociology Conference on April 13-14, 2018, at Western State Colorado University. Nopah is a sociology and human services major at Fort Lewis College in Durango.
Zenn Roberts of Bayfield has received a scholarship from the Mikkelson Foundation in Monument.
The foundation provide $3,000 scholarships for highly qualified students studying science, mathematics, and engineering The scholarships are renewable for up to four years of study. Roberts is co-valedictorian of the class of 2018 with a GPA for this semester of 4.56.
