Eva-Lou Edwards finished her undefeated 2013 cross country season with a state championship.
Edwards, the senior star from Bayfield High School, finished the CHSAA Class 3A Cross Country State Championships 5-kilometer race in 18 minutes, 41.6 seconds, which nearly was a minute and a half in front of her closest competitor.
Edwards, the 2012 state champion, too, didn’t lose a race all season.
Bridget Goddard came in 30th at 21:42.8, Aubree Lorenzen 47th in 22:16.3, Lexa Fleming 104th in 24:48.1, Maggie Zink 106th in 24:51.6 and Danielle Miller 112th in 25:00.5.
Salida won the 3A girls team championship, and Bayfield finished 11th at the Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs.
Luke Webb topped the Wolverines’ boys with a 17:49.9, good for 16th place.
Caleb Sapa finished 80th in 19:22, Alex Knight 90th in 19:32, Joey Sandrey 130th in 22:26.6 and Alex Svanes 133rd in 23:22.8.
Platte Canyon’s Jacob Benson won the boy’s individual race in 16:46.
The Wolverines finished 19th as a team, while Frontier Academy won the boys individual title.
