I am encouraging people to vote for Ben Lammons out of frustration with the current district attorney’s administration.
I lived in the county for years and was incessantly stalked and harassed by a neighbor. We had law enforcement out there on many occasions. I won a protection order against this person and have since found out that eight other people have, too.
Law enforcement led us to believe that there was a disconnect between the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the DA. As time went by, I realized this was true.
The DA’s office either refused to prosecute or pleaded the charges down to nothing each time she was arrested, and each time she was not dealt with, her behaviors intensified.
We have a new sheriff, and it’s time for a new DA who will work with that department and prosecute. The current DA’s Office seems to be working for the Public Defender’s Office rather than for the people. The Sheriff’s Office is trying to protect the public, but what good does it do if the DA doesn’t back them up?
Be aware, both of the men running are Democrats, so the next DA will be determined in this primary vote.
If you are unaffiliated, it’s not too late to change that. Help Southwest Colorado by voting for Ben Lammons.
