Shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, LPEA said the power in the Bayfield area should be over soon.
The power went out at 6:28 p.m. Sunday, affecting 602 La Plata Electric Association customers in the Bayfield area.
Line crews were on scene as of 6:52 p.m. By 7:45 p.m., they had determined the problem was not in the substation, so they were patrolling the line, LPEA spokeswoman Indiana Reed said.
The cause appeared to be weather-related, she said.
“We’ve got lots of thunder and lightning up here right now,” said Reed, who lives between Durango and Vallecito.
