Endurance athlete, ski coach dies in Colorado mountain fall

FRISCO – Endurance athlete and youth ski club coach Hannah Taylor died in a weekend mountaineering accident in the Rocky Mountains west of Denver.

The Summit Nordic Ski Club says Taylor and club head coach Olaf Hedberg were on a mountain run in the Gore Range on Saturday when she grabbed a rock that came loose and fell to her death. She was 39.

Charles Pittman with the Summit County Rescue Group confirmed the nature of the accident to the Summit Daily.

Taylor, a native of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, had been an assistant coach with the Nordic team for 14 years and lived in Silverthorne.
