About 800 primary election ballots were delivered on Wednesday to homes along U.S. Highway 550 that are now evacuated, according the U.S. Postal Service.
Another 250 ballots could not be delivered because of the evacuations, and they were held for residents at the Durango post office, said David Rupert, a spokesman with the Postal Service.
Those in need of a ballot can request a replacement at one of three voter service and polling centers:
The La Plata County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 98 Everett St., Suite C, can assist voters during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon June 23. La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25.Bayfield Town Hall at 1199 Bayfield Parkway, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 and 25. All three centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 26, Election Day.
