Extra ‘half page’ inconveniences readers

I realize the substantial savings to be gained by downsizing the width of the Herald, but I must register my dismay with the “half-page” that has been added to the sports section on Wednesdays.

If the half-page did not contain interesting content, I would not be writing. Unfortunately, it contains the important education section, with articles that continue from the side of the page properly connected to the rest, to the other, which has fallen on the floor. If you have tried to sit in a chair and hold up the paper (often sharing it with a large cat), you would understand my frustration. It is impossible to hold up that half a page, since my fingers are not quite long enough (nor are anyone else’s, I suspect) to reach that floppy, uncontrollable bit of a page and a half.

In the best of all worlds, that half-page would not exist. In the second best of all worlds, though, it should be a bit of advertising that could be discarded along with the other inserts.
