I am writing to urge city voters to vote “yes” on ballot Question 2B to allow the city to borrow funds for improvements to our wastewater system. Yes, I am the person who has been advocating looking at an alternative site for the sewer treatment plant, but that is a separate matter from borrowing the needed funds.
If this question fails, it will only cost us more money in the long run. It is likely that interest rates down the road will be higher than those currently being offered to the city. Without these funds it will be difficult for the city to progress on the project. Schedule delays almost always result in higher costs.
There will be no tax increase from this ballot question, as the repayment has been built into our sewer rates.
I will vote “yes” on this question. I ask you to join me and also vote “yes.”
