La Plata County Extension Office will sponsor a four-hour course for restaurant-food-service workers, which covers basic requirements for safe-food handling, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7 in the extension building at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The class also fulfills requirements for Cottage Food Tier 1 producers, and is available to non-English speakers.
Participants will receive a Food Safety Works Wallet Card, valid for one year, after they pass an exam.
Cost is $35 per person, and registration is required by 5 p.m. Sept. 5.
