Faith Christian wins playoff

Bayfield breaks evenfor season

It was a tough Saturday in Arvada for the Bayfield Wolverine football team.

Especially when Faith Christian Academy collectively averaged 6.7 yards per carry, 254.9 per game, and totaled 33 touchdowns on the ground, all prior to postseason play. Bayfield faced the Faith Christian Eagles for Saturday's Class 2A state playoffs first-rounder.

Getting 212 yards (on only 19 carries) from junior Trevor Olsen, and 63 (on 11) from senior Daniel Langewisch towards a grand total of 323, Faith dashed out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back in eliminating the Wolverines 40 to 14.

Senior Anthony Chamblee prevented a shutout with a 53-yard touchdown run, bringing BHS back to 20-7. But FC (now 8-2) countered with a drive ending with junior Adam Buchmann hitting senior Grant Harkness to put the #8-seed Eagles up by 19 points heading into halftime.

Buchmann was not intercepted before exiting the contest due to injury at the end of the third.

Chamblee also scored #9 Bayfield's second touchdown, before BHS ended 5 up, 5 down in 2014.

Full individual statistics for BHS had not been reported by press time.

Up next, the #1 Brush Beetdiggers (10-0) will host Faith Christian in quarterfinals action tomorrow at 1 p.m.
