Farmington man accused of bathroom voyeurism at bicycle shop

Tayvin Peshlakai arrested for allegedly taking videos of woman using restroom
Tayvin Peshlakai, 21, of Farmington, arrested for alleged involvement in voyeurism at bicycle shop and child sexual abuse material possession.

A Farmington man was arrested after a four-month investigation for allegedly taking videos of a woman using a restroom at a local bicycle shop.

Tayvin Peshlakai, 21, was arrested this past Friday and charged with fourth degree felony sexual exploitation of a child (possession) and three counts misdemeanor voyeurism in connection to an investigation that began in January.

Farmington Police began looking into Peshlakai’s actions on Jan. 16, when his friend alerted authorities to possible child pornography and voyeurism videos he allegedly saw on Pehslakai’s blue iPhone.

The friend told police that “Peshlakai works at Sandstone Cycles,” and there were “videos and photos of people in the restroom,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Police attempted to access Peshalakai’s phone with the passcode he gave them when he agreed to be questioned, but the passcode did not work, according to the affidavit.

Peshlakai allegedly told police the number he used was the first four digits of his school identification number. Police tried entering the last four digits, which ended up working.

Once police were able to access the videos, they manually searched the phone and “located at least five voyeurism videos taken from inside the restroom of the Sandstone Bicycle shop,” and they were able to identify “at least four victims,” the affidavit said.

Police reportedly saw “a clear shot of (Peshlakai’s) face while bending over looking at the positioning of the phone” in one of the videos, according to the affidavit.

“The victim pulls down her garments to use the restroom. During the recording her (private parts) are exposed to the camera,” the affidavit said.

There also were videos and photos “taken of customers inside and outside the store while Mr. Peshlakai hid behind shelves and walls or viewed through windows,” according to the affidavit.

Police reported locating five pieces of child sexual abuse material on the phone.

An arrest warrant for Peshlakai was issued on April 9, and he was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center this past Friday.
