Farmington police investigate shooting; two men injured

The Farmington Police Department said Tuesday it was investigating a shooting that left two men injured.

About 6:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to several reports of shots heard in the area of the 2000 block of North Tucker Avenue, said public information officer Nicole Brown in a news release.

Officers found a 29-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his neck. Later identified as Edgar Contreras, the man was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center and then flown to Albuquerque for treatment.

At another location, officers found Jaydoun Brown, 21, inside a car with a gunshot wound to his upper leg. He was transported to San Juan Regional, where he was treated and released.

The car had left the location where Contreras was found before officers arrived, Brown said.

The incident remains under investigation.

The shooting came a day after a man was killed in a shooting in the 700 block of Zuni Drive, according to the Farmington Daily Times.

About 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers found 45-year-old Iran Olguin with a chest wound. He died at San Juan Regional.
