Farmington Public Library to host winter solstice celebration

Farmington Public Library will host its annual Winter Solstice Celebration at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the library, 2101 Farmington Ave.

Since 2003, the library has celebrated the Winter Solstice Celebration, making use of the building’s solstice markers that were carefully calibrated and carved into the sandstone floor.

This year’s celebration will feature:

11:45 a.m.: Performance by the Ashay Drummers.Noon: Winter Solstice Celebration.12:10 p.m.: Presentation of “Let There Be Light” award.12:15 p.m.: Performance by Native American violinist Kylie Jim.
