FARMINGTON – Farmington native and “The Voice” winner Chevel Shepherd announced she will hold a virtual concert July 31.

Shepherd won season 15 of the “The Voice,” a popular reality television singing competition when she was 16.

Shepherd, now 18, recently graduated from Farmington High School. She was scheduled to perform a concert at the Farmington Civic Center on June 19, a highly anticipated performance in the community.

But the concert was ultimately postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings. Currently, the performance is scheduled on the venue’s website for Oct. 2 but there is still a public health order from New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham restricting large-scale gatherings. It’s uncertain if the health mandate would be lifted before the concert.

This month’s concert was announced on Shepherd’s Facebook page, and tickets are $25. Tickets for the show, scheduled for 7 p.m. July 31, will be good for two viewings of the performance within 48 hours after its premiere.

During her time on “The Voice,” Shepherd was mentored by singer Kelly Clarkson. Her debut album, “Everybody’s Got a Story,” was produced by Todd Tidwell, who previously worked with Clarkson. The release date of the album has not yet been announced.

On Friday, she announced the song had entered the country music charts.
