A faulty wire caused a power outage Friday afternoon in the Animas Valley affecting about 300 customers.
The outage occurred about 4 p.m. and crews expected to have the issue repaired by about 6 p.m., said Justin Talbot, manager of operations for La Plata Electric Association. The outage affected homes in a scattered pattern because of the location of the faulty wire, he said.
Crews started working on the issue shortly after 5 p.m., he said.
No specific cause of the fault was known as of 6 p.m., but the fluctuating temperatures, ice and rain during spring storms can impact LPEA’s equipment, according to an LPEA news release.
