As La Plata County officials work to make Denver television access a reality, residents can voice their opinions on in-state programming.
Residents can submit comments to the Federal Communications Commission using the agency’s submission page at www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express.
The form requires a docket number in the field marked “proceedings.” Search this field using “La Plata County” or enter 16-366, 16-367, 16-368 and 16-369 to reference the four petitions filed requesting access to ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates in Denver.
Comments must be submitted by Tuesday.
In late October, county commissioners unanimously agreed to petition the FCC for a market modification that would enable satellite providers to offer Denver television access to the region’s subscribers.
The FCC has four months from when the petition was submitted to act.
Southwest Colorado, defined as an “orphan” county, currently receives programming from Albuquerque, something residents of La Plata County have tried to change for decades.
In-state programming would give viewers access to Colorado news, public affairs and sports.
