Film about women and equality to be shown

“Equal Means Equal,” a film documenting the status of state ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and of UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The film focuses on 10 areas of discrimination, including: the law; pregnancy and wage discrimination; domestic violence; foster care and child sex trafficking; female poverty and incarceration; and rape and sexual assault. “Equal Means Equal” was directed and is narrated by Kamala Lopez.

The film screening is sponsored by the Women’s Rights Committee of Indivisible Durango. The free showing is open to the public. Donations to defray the cost of room rental are welcome.
