A film presented at the Crested Butte Film Festival confirmed that the Trump administration is attacking free speech. "Mr. Nobody Against Putin" features a teacher in a small town in Russia who documents how the government takes control of his school by compelling teachers to use government-written lessons glorifying Putin. It mirrors what Hitler did in Germany, Stalin in the Soviet Union, and Mao in China.
Now it appears the Trump administration is working from the same playbook, starting with an attack on some of our biggest universities. During WWII, British Prime Minister Churchill stated that Hitler attacked Germany prior to invading other countries. At the community level, we must make sure that none of the candidates running for school board have a hidden authoritarian agenda.
