The Pagosa Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest recently released the Final Environmental Assessment and Draft Decision Notice for the Fall Creek Spruce Project, located in the Wolf Creek Pass area.
The proposal includes plans to harvest dead and dying trees that occupy up to 806 acres of national forest in Mineral County, promote reforestation of an additional 190 acres, control erosion, improve fisheries, and construct two corrals to improve rangeland management of the East Fork San Juan allotment.
The Draft Decision Notice is subject to objection throughout a 45-day period, ending June 5. Objections will be accepted only from those who have previously submitted specific written comments about the proposed project.
The public can submit objections to: Kara Chadwick, reviewing officer, Attn: Objections, San Juan Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court, Durango, CO 81301.
Objections can also be emailed to r02f13admin_review@fs.fed.us; faxed to 385-1386, Attn: Objections: Fall Creek Spruce Project; or hand-delivered to San Juan Public Lands Center during normal business hours.
