Fire mitigation work at Dalla Mountain Park begins Tuesday

Fire-mitigation work in Dalla Mountain Park will begin Tuesday and continue through fall. Crews with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control will consolidate existing piles of previously cut vegetation for removal in the fall. Additional vegetation may be cut and piled to further reduce density of hazardous fuels.

The Fire Adapted Durango Partnership includes the Durango Parks and Recreation Department, CDFPC, Bureau of Land Management, Durango Fire Prevention District, Colorado State Forest Service, Wildfire Adapted Partnership, La Plata County and La Plata Electric Association.

Trails and trailheads at Dalla Mountain Park will remain open, but users should be aware that sawyer crews and vehicles will be in the area. Signs will be in place to notify trail users of work in the area.
