Firefighters contained a brush fire Friday afternoon in Oxbow Park & Preserve in north Durango.
Durango Fire Protection District Marshal Karola Hanks said as of 5 p.m. the fire was contained at about 1½ acres in size, on the preserve side of the park.
Hanks said no homes or people were at risk.
The fire, which was reported about 3:30 p.m., was putting up a cloud of smoke visible from several locations in the Animas Valley.
About 13 firefighters responded, Hanks said.
Fire investigators were also at the scene, and there were no known causes of the fire at the time, she said.
