First Durango Art Week kicks off Sept. 15

Visit Durango is calling all La Plata County artists, curators, galleries, businesses, nonprofits and anyone in the art field to participate in the first Durango Arts Week.

The weeklong celebration will take place Sept. 15 to Sept. 24.

Durango Art Week’s mission is: “Durango Arts Week strives to provide an engaging and memorable experience for all participants by uniting the community through art and celebrating diversity and accessibility. We promote our mission throughout the community to experience art in Durango, foster relationships with artists, sponsors and partner organizations, and create broad appeal for all ages and walks of life.”

Visit Durango is excited to showcase La Plata County’s thriving arts scene, expose artists to new audiences and celebrate the artist community. Durango Arts Week plans to be a long-standing tradition that will continue to evolve with the local art scene.

Some participating events include:

  • Durango Autumn Arts Festival, Sept. 16.
  • Slump Glass Bottle Cheese Trays Decoration Class, Sept. 19,
  • Durango Arts Center.
  • Durango Open Studio Tour, Sept. 22, Smiley Café.
  • Street Photography Class. Sept. 22, Aelpha Collective.
