In customary fashion, the Ignacio High School girls basketball team jumped all over its opponent in the first quarter Tuesday to put the game away early.
The Bobcats, ranked No. 11 in the latest CHSAANow.com Class 2A poll, built a 25-3 lead after one quarter and 44-8 at halftime before finishing off the Dolores Bears 63-24 on Tuesday night in Dolores.
Jayden Brunson led Ignacio (8-1, 5-0 2A/1A San Juan Basin League) with 16 points. Shelcie Gosney scored 14 points inside, while Charlize Valdez finished with 10 points and Laci Brunson added nine.
Dolores (2-6, 1-4 SJBL) received nine points from senior Akira Edwards and eight from Ashaunee Begay.
IHS is down to four regular-season games to play before the postseason. IHS will host Cedaredge at 4 p.m. Friday.
