Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise on Thursday until sunset on Sunday in honor of U.S. Air Force Capt. William DuBois of New Castle, according to a news release.
DuBois, 30, died Nov. 30 in the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. According to initial reports, DuBois died of injuries suffered when his F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed while returning to its base, the release said.
DuBois was assigned to the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
A service for family and friends will be held in Rifle on Sunday.
