A flash-flood warning is in effect for La Plata County until 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
The warning was sent at about 4:15 p.m.
The Weather Service said flooding could be of particular concern near Trimble, north of Durango, on the 416 Fire burn scar.
Heavy rains on burn scars raise the risk for dangerous flooding and debris flows, which have plagued the region in the recent weeks.
The Weather Service says people should avoid walking or driving through floodwaters and move immediately to higher ground.
