Women’s track and field solid in first-ever outdoor meet

Welcome to outdoor track and field, Fort Lewis College.

The Skyhawks’ first-year women’s program competed in its first outdoor meet in program history Friday at the Colorado Mesa University Marriot Invitational in Grand Junction.

Durango High School alumna Madeigh Winsor won the women’s 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 3.64 seconds, one of eight top-five finishes on the day by FLC.

Angela Grogan took third in the 400 in 1:08.79.

Stephanie Dexter was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.51 seconds. She also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 28.51 seconds.

Emily Bryant, who graduated from Pagosa Springs High School, took fifth in the 1,500-meter run.

Rebecca Bramley was third in the 5,000-meter run in 19:42.1, with teammate Chloe Boehlke behind her in fourth in 20:27.95.

In the field events, Carley Carter finished second in the pole vault with a jump of 2.71 meters, and Alexis Cox was third in the long jump with a leap of 4.83 meters.

The Skyhawks will step up their competition to the Division I level April 3-4 at the University of New Mexico Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
