FLC kicker named RMAC Special Teams Player of Week

Place kicker/punter Kipp Castanha scored 15 of Fort Lewis’ 51 points on Saturday’s win over rival Adams State, earning the senior RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Fort Lewis College senior Kipp Castanha was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his perfect performance kicking in the Skyhawks’ 51-10 win over rival Adams State in the annual Musket Game.

This is Castanha’s second time in his career receiving this award.

As both a place kicker and punter, Castanha went a perfect 3-for-3 in field goals from 48-, 27- and 37-yards out. His 48-yard field goal was a career long. Castanha also made all six point after touchdown attempts. In the end, Castanha tallied up 15 of FLC’s 51 points on Saturday.

The Rye High School product averaged 60.1 yards on kickoffs and punted once for 60 yards.

FLC (6-4, 5-3 RMAC) will play its final game of the regular season at noon this Saturday on the road at Chadron State (5-5, 4-4).
