FLC men’s soccer side scores 6 in victory

After dropping out of the national rankings with a pair of losses last weekend, the Fort Lewis College men’s soccer side got back in the win column Friday in Alamosa.

The score, however, better resembled a baseball game than a soccer match.

FLC (5-3-1, 2-3-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference), with a trio of goals in each half, defeated Adams State (4-4, 2-3 RMAC) 6-3.

Brook Assefa scored 4 minutes, 13 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead.

Ethan Jackson and Symon Fabbricatore scored 12 minutes apart to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead.

Luke Lawrence, from Austin Derksen, tied the game at 2 at the 33-minute mark, and Zac Lawrence, on an assist from his younger brother, scored three minutes later for the 3-2 halftime lead.

Luke Lawrence assisted again to start the second half; Alberto Capdepon scored at the 47-minute mark.

Tamino Kroeger scored in the 70th minute on an assist from Artur Piperkov, and Jordan Alexander, from Kroeger, capped the Skyhawks’ scoring in the 76th minute.

Eric Rickard, from Fabbricatore, scored for the Grizzlies in the 81st minute.

Ryan Schaul made six saves to earn the victory for the Skyhawks.

FLC will host CSU-Pueblo at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Dirks Field.
