Six members of the Fort Lewis College softball team were awarded All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

The RMAC also released its women’s lacrosse all-conference teams on Thursday, and five Skyhawks were honored.

The softball players scoring honorable mentions include Alex Tenorio, Alyssa Gutierrez, Sloan Shotton, Amiee Shanks, Kayla Stone and Catheryn Rodman.

“I'm really proud of our group this year,” said Fort Lewis College head softball coach Dwight Sanders. “We believe that these are a big award. It means several coaches thought they were key players throughout the year, and we'd certainly agree. It was a great year for these girls, a great year for the team, and we're excited to move forward and prepare for next year.”

From the lacrosse team, senior Rebecca Kiyokawa and junior Haley Dostie both earned Second Team All-Conference nods while seniors Averi Basso, Makena Carter and freshman Samantha Rodgers earned honorable mentions.

A staple in center field, Gutierrez tallied a .942 fielding percentage with 72 putouts and 25 assists.

At the plate, Shotton supplied a .276 average with eight doubles, two triples and five home runs. Behind the dish, Shotton had a .977 fielding percentage with 185 putouts, 23 assists and she also caught six runners stealing.

The sophomore from Tucson, Arizona, finished the regular season with a 4.43 earned run average, 60 strikeouts and 17 complete games.

Stone, a transfer from Monterey Peninsula College, enjoyed a quality first season with the Skyhawks. On defense, she played at second and third base and had .977 fielding percentage with 69 putouts and 93 assists. At the plate, Stone tied Shotton for third on the roster with 29 RBIs while adding eight doubles and five home runs.
